Embed Google Reviews is a free WordPress plugin that displays your live Google reviews and writes the review text into your page's HTML, so search engines and AI assistants — which don't run JavaScript — can read them. Reviews refresh hourly in the background and never slow your site down.
Why a normal reviews widget is invisible to AI search
Every popular Google reviews plugin draws the reviews with JavaScript after the page loads. Visitors see them. Google sees them, because Google runs JavaScript.
But the crawlers behind AI assistants — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot — never execute JavaScript. They read the raw HTML your server sends and move on. How do I add Google reviews to WordPress?+
Install the free Embed Google Reviews plugin, go to Settings → Google Reviews, and paste either your Google Place ID or the embed code from our widget builder. Then add the Google Reviews block to any page, or drop in the [rotf_reviews] shortcode. Your reviews appear immediately and refresh automatically every hour.

Will it slow my WordPress site down?+
No. Your pages never wait on an outside service. Reviews are fetched by a background job on a schedule and stored in your own database — rendering a page only reads what is already there. If the reviews service is ever slow or unreachable, your site is unaffected and the last fetched reviews keep showing.
Is the plugin really free?+
Yes. The plugin is free, and so is every layout, theme, and display option. Without an account it shows the five reviews Google shares publicly; connect a free ReplyOnTheFly account and it unlocks your full review history with keyword filtering and sorting. A small "Reviews by ReplyOnTheFly" credit shows on free plans and is removed on Review Replies Pro.
Can different pages show different reviews?+
Yes — every setting can be overridden per placement. A wedding venue can show only reviews mentioning weddings on its weddings page: [rotf_reviews filter="wedding" layout="carousel"]. If no review matches a keyword yet, the widget shows your most recent reviews instead of an empty space, and switches over on its own once a matching review arrives.
Does it add review stars to my Google search results?+
No, and deliberately. Google does not show review rich results for a business’s own reviews on its own website — its guidelines name embedded review widgets specifically — so review schema there would earn nothing and risks a structured-data penalty. We skip the markup that could hurt you and keep the text that helps you.
Do I need to keep the reviews up to date myself?+
No. The plugin refreshes the stored reviews every hour in the background. New reviews flow onto your site on their own — including into the server-rendered text that search engines read — with nothing to re-paste or maintain.
